z6 head...a6 block

- Mon Sep 22, 2008 5:12 am #70937 i dont really know if this considered a mini me...i heard that you have to tap into the block for oil for the vtec..i see that the vtec has been wired but i dont see any tap for oil..can i even do anything with this motor or should i just scrap it and get a y8?..i do want to go turbo soon..190 whp is all i really want..no more than 220 whp...

- Mon Sep 22, 2008 1:11 pm #70961 no need to tap into the block. Just need to remove the oil jet between cyls 2 & 3 on the surface of the block/head mounting surface. Since it is already assembled, I would assume the person did that step. If they didn't, you'll know because you won't build enough oil pressure to activate vtec.

- Mon Sep 22, 2008 11:17 pm #71047 you cant really feel or hear it at all with the stock cam. if you want to know if you are actually engaging VTEC while driving you might want to install a light for when it comes on.
