have you checked to see if it is leaking oil? It might be burning just a little bit, not enough to make a blue cloud of smoke.

no leaks either.... changed the oil today..

no leaks... never had any.

could it be piston rings?

mostly likely. have a friend watch the exhuast while you give gas. and see if it's blowing out blueish smoke. if it is....your rings are prolly shot.

Or just look in the rearview.

My old 91 DX smoked a bit under acceleration. Not noticable to the average schmoe.

Orrr..... check your spark plugs and see if they are gummed up with oil... my old d15z1 had blown piston rings and was burning oil.... I would sand blast the spark plugs during auto class so they wouldnt get to gummed up

if ur spark plugs are getting gummed up up from oil then there is obviously a leak.

could be the valve seals too? does it puff on first start up after sitting for a while, and stops once warm, or only under hard acceleration aka all hondas :D

Checking your compression will easily determine valve seals or rings. If the rings were bad you would probably note some power loss do to loss of compression.

Compression tester not very expensive.

compression test will only confirm if there is a leak.
you need a leakdown test to determine whether its valve seals or rings.

My 90 accord that has over 200k and burns some oil. I do not see it burning the oil, but I see it collecting at the end of the tail pipe. You might want to look there.

Depending on your car if it is like mine and has high miles the rings are not that good.

You could throw some Restore 4 when you change the oil next. A buddy of mine swears by it.
