#97118 As far as I know, the ZC wasn't a vtec motor. They offered two different versions (SOHC and DOHC) but neither of the two were vtec. I could be mistaken though..

#97125 The reason I brought it up, was because it was said that it was just like th y8 with a different name.

#99132 Oh man this crap...

There are MANY ZC's, VTEC and non VTEC. I swapped a D16Z6 equivalent ZC into my previous hatch. Yes, VTEC. AFAIK they are all 1.6 liter.

-- There's the DOHC non VTEC ZC. This is the most widely known.

-- There's the D16A6 equivalent ZC, EXCELLENT MOTOR. Had this in a 90 Civic Si that I sold.

-- There's the D16Z6 equivalent ZC. I had this in a 93 hatchback that I sold.

What I don't get is why you are asking us? Do you have a problem with reality? Do you not trust your own eyes? If the block says ZC, but it has the buff-bicep style intake of the Y8, then there is indeed an OBD2 Y8 equivalent ZC. I've never seen it personally but I would be inclined to believe it.

Post pics!!

#99135 greasedmonkey good call man, no VTEC. What the weird?! I would expect it to have the Y7 intake on it. I wonder how many other variations there are. At least as many as "D15B"s I would think. My current OBD2 "D15B" is a 3 Stage VTEC... That's the same company I bought it from too. Good company.

My OBD1 SOHC ZC definately had a VTEC solenoid on it. The OP needs to post some pics or at least check if there's a VTEC solenoid.

#99209 The reason I ask is because of the many combos out there that you can do to a motor for example a mini me swap on a zc block using a y8 head and intake. So please don't be a smart ass unless you know what your talking about. pics coming soon.

#99481 I am ALWAYS a smart ass. SOMETIMES I even know what I'm talking about.

Well, that's a D16Y8 intake manifold and a D16Z6 valve cover. OBD2 injectors, OBD2 distributor plug, OBD2 oil dipstick. No EGR so it's not a Y5. What troubles me is that it has a VTEC pressure switch on the VTEC solenoid. That's not JDM. Looks like a normal USDM D16Y8.

What you need to do now since you know so much about cars is look at the engine stamp. Maybe pop the valve cover off and take a close up of the valve train for confirmation.
