#97426 about 2 weeks ago it was freakin freezing out and i turn on my car after a couple of minutes or so i give her a little rev and holyshitt my check engine light comes onthe car felt fine thogh so i sorta ignored it about 2 days ago im driving im on third juss relaxing and i start to hear kinda like a hissing noise evry time i pressed the gas somewhat hard at first i thought my exhoust becouse when i parked i reved a few times not too hard though and both me and my wife agreed it was coming from the bottom of the car but i was still sceptical the next day i turn her on and drives fine at low rpms but when i step on the gas a lil firmly when it reaches anywhere btween 3000 to 5000 and up rpms it does that hising noise maybe its a krakling noise its hard to tell it sounds like both and the car holds back when it does this like if at that moment an elephant sat on top of my car it feels heavy and sluggish i also noticed when the check engine light dosent come on the car feels fine sometimes (i forgot to mention earlyer that the check engine light comes off every 2 to 3 starts

the car is a 95 civic ex 4door d16z6 with about 139k


does anyone know wtf is wrong with my car has anyone ever expirianced something like this

i explained this to my moms bf whos a mechanic over the phone he says it may need a tune upsince he tells me the car hasnt had a tune up in a long time (oil and sparkplugs and it should take care of the problem) but i dont know it feels like so much more pleeaaseeee hellpp

#98323 Allright im not a pro but I am going to school to be ase certified.......so I have the same car but its a 92 with the same d16z6 mine has 189 000 mile on it..... you might wana check the EGR....or the vtec solinoid...or may need tune up...or off timing...and check and clean all connectors around intake manifold.......hope im not to late to help you out good luck seen this thread late

#98325 is the car leaking anything? i had a problem with my old hatch where it made a hissing sound and the rpm's were low, in my case it was a fuel line leak and the hiss would continue for a sec after i shut the car off till the pressure was out of the line

#98363 There's a DIY on here for how to expose your ECU, and using a bent paperclip you can manually check which CEL you've got. There's also a list of all the CEL codes on this forum. I'd look into that pronto.

#99090 an update::::

so i set some time aside to inspect the four door i cheched the spark plugs and have that brown gooey burned shit on them so theres one thing when i checked the dip stick man was my oil blk and barely anylike less than half a drop on the dipstick so im guessing i have a super slow leak somwere in the oil pan maybee the gasket didnt have time to look to deep into it but the bottom of my oil pan looked like i grabbed oil and smothered a light coat over it so for s temp fix i added 2 and a half qts until payday and give her a full complete tune up when i added them 2 and a half qts she ran better and a bit smoother poor baby needed oil but the check engine light still comes on and once in a while i feel like shes not running as powerful as she should.......input time ......

#101115 you could have worn somethin due to small amount of oil but if the heat sensor was grand then nothing major......
the retardation is due to miss fire or hesitation, the ignition system might be under pressure to produce enough voltage for the spark to jump the gap on the spark plug so shes abit late delivering the spark and also check the valve seales dont be lazy and check them all just incase the oil went into your block and wet the spark plug
