I am in the process of buying a D15b from a guy that came out of a CRX. He says it will bolt right up to my 1995 Honda Civic DX that also has a D15B. I just want to know if it will be a direct swap since its coming from a car that is 5 years older.

Thanks and sorry for the noob question

is it a jdm d15b or a d15b2? Check the block stamp (front of the block, right next to where the engine bolts to the tranny)

If it is OBD0 then it will be a little extra work to get it to work in your DX

Also the dx has a d15b7,, unless yours was swapped with the jdm D15b (1.5L vtec motor)

big difference between the two.

If his is the d15b2 and yours is d15b7, then you can take the intake manifold from your b7 and put it on the b2 motor. You could swap heads too, for some reason the d15b7 makes about 10 or so more HP than the d15b2, I'm not sure if that is from a difference in the heads or not.

what teal dx said as well as you will need to change your Driverside top motor mount with the one form the 92-95 civic i beleive you will need to change the whole thing from the mount to the peice that connects to the block its not hard at all 2 bolts but yea will need to pop off the timing belt lower cover.

But anyhow besides that there really isnt much difference to make it next to impossible someone whose never done it probaly could.

It also matters which D15b it is. The CRX came with 2 different d15b's the b2 which is a dual point ignition or the b6 which is multi point which is the same as the eg's however it only has like 60 hp but you get great mileage

Yeah he said its a D15B2 and all I have to do is swap the intake manifold and Alternator but I have no clue why the alternator would be different. Well thanks for the info :thumb:

alternator has a different plugs for the big round parts due to obd0 and obd1 harnesses though im not sure on this but i am going to try it unless someone on here says its a no go but find a obd0 harness from a 88-91 dx and cut of that plug and splice it into my harness....

So thats mainly that whole part there

But if i was you id look for a nice mini me head either a z6 or y8 alot more fun and stuff and that is what im doing with my D15b2 from a 90 ef hatch but anyhow goodluck with what ever you plan on doing

Ive been busy so ive been procrastinating about getting the new motor in the car plus the car is 30 miles away from where I live.

One more question, can I use the transmission that came out of my 95 Civic DX (D15B7) and connect it to my new motor D15B2. I just got home and it bolted up but I want to be sure it will operate properly before I throw the new engine and trans. into the car.

Any help is greatly apperciated!!! :thumb:
