D series power experiment

OK I know D series and power don't really happen w/o some major work, this is just a small write up for who ever cares to read about 2 intakes I just happened to notice a difference.
First off my car is a 95 dx 5 spd, mostly stock just a budget header and 2-1/4" straight pipe to a basic muffler ( not the stock one, nor flashy )

I ripped out the entire air box and b/s to free up space about 2 years ago and for what ever reason decided to run it with just cone filter and reducer on the Throttle body, as expected no huge gain, but it did seem "peaky" from 20mph in 1st on same for 2nd as well, at about 40mph. no throttle position change, but the power would pull a bit more.
Anyway the filter fell off after a year or so, so i picked up a "cold air" intake, threw that on and as expected, more pull from low to upper mid range but it lacks the drastic change from the stubby intake at the 20 / 40mph marks (note- no tach, so i go by the speed and gear). I know long tubes on headers and intake manifolds for other makes are better for low end power/ torque so doing the opposite would theoretically improve the high end. ok thats my story thanks

Shortrams FTL.

If you went to Autozone and picked up one of those Generic Intake tubes, It would help. Having the longer tube will help with lower end power. Defentually something everyone who drives a Honda could use.

Honda Engineers made the OEM Tubing as they did for a reason.

Why would your muffler have anything to do with a CAI as apposed to your makeshift intake?

Get a Ractive Cold Air intake it fits to the Stock Tube you have on that Car.
it cost me 30$ buck works well and has a nice sound and i have the exact same car a 95 dx

they're unrelated, it just figures when one thing is finished, another needs attention

More on the D Experiment, just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a civic sounding like a mean WRX, not that I glorify them by any means but it sounded great. I heard it yesterday but didn't get a chance to ask the kid what his setup was so now I'm wondering what the exhaust would be like if at the 2nd of part of my headers where it goes 2-1 you keep it 2, run 2 flex pipes and (2) 1.25" all the way back, both on one side or split them one on each side. What do you think?

if you want your civic to sound like a wrx, just pull one of your plug wires off.
