i have a 93 vx, with a d16y8 block with a z6 head. with just some bolt ons, well i cleaned my iacv and let it dry for at least 2 hours... well after that i took her out on the freeway and i just hit 6500ish rpms about to shift, and poof, a big cloud of smoke comes out for a good second, blinding ppl behind me, i shifted into third and it seemed fine... its had a funny idle for the past week, and now if im driving normal its fine, but almost every time i push on it and vtec kicks in the check engine light comes on, i have a code reader, but dont know where to plug it in... what comes to my mind is the o2 sensor.
what you guys think???

i got a y7 bl0ock with a z6 head and i got the same problem im thinkin its the iacv but mine doesnt idle right at all and the Check engine light is on all the time after it warms up but i think u need to read the code off the ecu i think i havent had to check a check engine light ina while so i forgot

im sure some one on here knows how to read the codes

a long flash is = 10
short fast flash is = 1
it can throw more than one code at a time
1 O2A - Oxygen sensor #1
2 O2B - Oxygen sensor #2
3 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
4 CKP - crank position sensor
5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
6 ECT - water temperature sensor
7 TPS - throttle position sensor
8 TDC - top dead centre sensor
9 CYP - cylinder sensor
10 IAT - intake air temperature sensor
12 EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve
13 BARO - atmospheric pressure sensor
14 IAC (EACV) - idle air control valve
15 Ignition output signal
16 Fuel injectors
17 VSS - speed sensor
19 Automatic transmission lockup control valve
20 Electrical load detector
21 VTEC spool solenoid valve
22 VTEC pressure valve
23 Knock sensor
30 Automatic transmission A signal
31 Automatic transmission B signal
41 Primary oxygen sensor heater
43 Fuel supply system
45 Fuel system too rich or lean
48 LAF - lean air fuel sensor
54 CKF - crank fluctuation sensor
58 TDC sensor #2
61 Primary oxygen sensor
63 Secondary oxygen sensor
65 Secondary oxygen sensor heater
here is a little info i found on the flashing code lights and how to read them. this is specific to the Y8 motor. hope it helps some.
p.s. - drago - check your pm's.

the D16y8 block D16Z6 head car now has a Knock at around 2500 RPM then gone when higher. and i got bubbles in the radiator when idle's i think i blew a head gasket. Would that make all those problems??? thanks for the help so far

bad headgasket would cause a lot of white smoke between gear changes especially at high rpms. start the car and while at idle take off the rad cap and if its bubbling your headgasket is toast...
to knock isn't caused by the headgasket being bad, but is an in-direct result of the oil and coolant mixing and the lubricating properties of the oil being turned to rat-shit..

nice help everyone... got the head gasket in and runs fine now. it needs a new ecu now. a attempt to put the chip in fried the ecu i think. it starts and runs fine but wont go past 4000 maybe its the chip. but the owner is getting a hole new one already chipped.
how do you post pics on here?
