Thinkin about trying to put my y8 intake manifold onto my z6 engine. Will it work? The main thing- is it worth my time and effort to put it onto my motor, because I have a complete y8 motor in my garage and i dont want to hack and cut something that is not going to be any different than what i already have.

youll have better flow or so ive heard.....the design of that intake is the best oem one you can get for the d series and unless you have the f'd up one with all the extra mumbo jumbo that you have to plug...there really isnt much else you need to do to the intake besides insert your injectors and stuff like that also the only other thing youll need to do is i think put in that white peice(the one with 2 phillips head in it...and also the one vaccum thing....)

moving to D series since this is all about D series parts and not hatchbacks

most say the y8 flows better all around, but that the z6 has the best top end potential. Some also say the #3 runner design causes cyl #3 to run lean.
I wish there was proof by dyno of all the above... I would love to know for sure.

If your y8 has cold start assist (99-00) then you'll need to plug the 4 tiny holes on the mounting flange and cap the lines where the extra vacuum hoses used to go.

96-98 you don't have to worry about that step.
Also, you want to use an IM from a manual car, the IACV is mounted to the IM, not the throttle body as the automatics have.

You will need to drill a hole in the intake for the IAT or extend the wires and drill a hole in your intake tube for it.
Re-use your current injectors.

Read through the How to do a Mini-Me swap thread, alot of this is covered when I used a y8 intake mani on my 92
