#165942 I'm looking into getting one for a trade of my 240, but it needs a transmission, ecu, and distributer.

The list of the engine mods is suppose to look like this:
Eagle rods and crank, weisco turbo pistons, the head has been ported and polished with stage 2 cams, valve springs, and retainers.

Does the mods seem reasonable, and how much can I look forward to spend for what I need, transmission, ecu, and distributer.

Also, should I buy an after market clutch before I put it together and in my car, or will a good stock clutch be ok?

Thanks in advance.

#165949 depending on series.
a d series ex/si tranny 100-200
for a d series dx/lx 50-150
for a b series ls tranny 200-500

ecu depends between 20(junkyard) to 150 depending what/where you get.

it depends on what pricing is locally for you.
I would go with an aftermarket clutch is your making decent power. If it's a d series I would recommend a xtd stage 3 clutch. I had one in my old coupe, it worked really good when I was shooting nitrous.

if your trading a nice 240 I would make him throw in the ecu. I imagine the car is turboed. If so you will need it tuned, which won't be cheap

#165952 Do any of those tranny's work with a b18?

The 240 has a blown head gasket, but in really good condition other wise, asking 900 because I need the money, but I could use the motor for the unpowerful vx I have now, lol.

#165985 Only the B series transmissions mate up to the B series engines as far as I know. Unless there's an adapter plate, axles, and flywheel that I don't know of...

That engine is not worth $900 IMO. Especially without a dizzy, or tranny. ECUs are easy to come by, but you'd need to have it chipped and tuned because of the cams and pistons. If you're trading your 240 for it, you should get some cash on top.

Typically, an LS dizzy can be found on CraigsList for about $50-$75.

LS tranny can be found for about $300 for a mint piece. GSR for about $500 for a pretty good unit. ITR for roughly $700-$1000 (around me) if you can even find one on CraigsList. B16 tranny is identical in gearing to the 96-97 ITR (JDM included), but not as strong and can be had for about $600-$700 around me.

x2

I was on my Palm Pre and didn't read the B18b on the top, I thought it was a general question about trannys, my bad.

a 240 shell is worth more then a stripped b18. :thumb:

#165993 10-4. I figured you of all people would not have made that mistake...being the transmission guy you are.

#166169 Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I think I will sell it for cash, and try and find a stock ls.
