HUGE LS DISASTER!!!

While torquing down the sparkplugs in my LS, i accidentally snap the sparkplug... when i say i snapped the sparkplug i mean THE DAMM THING CAME OUT!!, but here is the big problem...THE THREADS STAYED INSIDE!!!! NOOOOO!!......I need help, what do i do?

please help, im trying to avoid removing the head.


See the one on the left is the one i broke, see the one in the right still has the threads on.

- Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:49 pm #178343 Sucks to hear that man, to be honest id rather take the head off so u can get at it from both sides. I think that would be the best route to go. An i hope u weren't torquing with a torque wrench. Cus all u need to do is snug it.

don't bother taking the head off until you try this reverse extractor (I think that might be the proper name).

They're about $5 and will save you hours of labor. I used them when my compression tester broke and the threaded piece came off and got stuck in the spark plug hole - same situation.

- Mon Mar 01, 2010 4:27 pm #178484 Definitely make sure you don't leave any debris in the combustion chamber. Find some way to get some vacuum suction in there and clean it up.

- Mon Mar 01, 2010 4:58 pm #178497 When I cleaned mine after doing this, I took off the manifold, made cure that the intake valves were shut for that cyl and the exhaust valves were open, and then put the air compressor tip in the spark plug tube and blew a lot of air through.
Then I got a shop vac and crafted a reducer out of a funnel and duct tape and stuck a small rubber tube on the end of the funnel and moved it around the cyl in case any didn't get blown out.
