questions about an ls swap

B16, B18, B20

- Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:25 pm #182117 An ls will be a better motor than any d would be. Boosted or na. They do make good power na and there are cams and intake manifolds and such for them as well. They have the same bore size as a b16 and b18c so the pistons swap over. Also the stock hydro tranny that comes with the ls motor is geared just like a d16z6 tranny. Little different final drive but all together the same. It is also a straight forward swap. You can use your current chassis harness and would just need the ecu to run the motor. As far as the motor goes you can find the swap cheap now. I got my ls swap with a b16a tranny complete for 400 bucks. Don't let all the save the sohc people talk you put of a motor with torque.

where did you find an ls for 400 :shock: i've been looking on cl and the b16 tranny alone costs around 600.i didnt really know about being able to use my stock harness on a ls

- Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:49 pm #183187 no not CL. i actually met this guy threw one of my friends. they guy who is now my friend was into civics and stuff. had a ej with a gsr swap, and a eg hatch with v tac. and his cousin had a 95 teggy. he had bout the teg and had it for only 2 weeks. he had put a brand new clutch in, brakes and a few othe nick nacks. one day he was driven round heading home when some idiot in another civic was tryen to race him thre the nabor hood. well they guy came flyen up on his ass and failt to see the brakelight because of a stop signe and plowed the teggy. :thumbdown: so i talked to him and he wanted 800$for it. i then worked him down because i had to rent a dolly to tow it back plus the gas and also to dispose of the shell when done. so i offered 600$ and he was perfectly cool with that. so i gave hime 400$ cash and towed to my house. yanked the engine and put it in mine and once if fired up i gave him the other 200$. plus i got all the ls disk conversion. i could have sold some of the misc. parts off the car but didnt have time. so i called a tow place and paid 20$ for this guy to come get the shell and take it to be crushed. it was a steal man. honestly chances of finding a deal like that a slim. i mean i did only pay 100$ for my car and 600$ for the full swap. thats a damn deal. but i concider myself lucky it all worked out to my advantage :thumb:
