#237832 hey there, i have b18c5 with a loud ticking noise coming from my rear cam. i was wondering what would be causing the noise. i was also wondering if cams from like a gsr motor would fit and preform well in a type r motor. thanks

#237835 First of all: Type R likes Type R cams. They are higher lift, and a better ramp rate on the valve opening than the GSR cams. You will probably lose power if you switch to the GSR cams.

As for the ticking, adjust your valve clearances and report back. That's always my first guess anyways.

When you take the valve cover off, do a thorough inspection of everything in there. Look at the wear patterns on the cam lobes, push on the mid rocker to see if the LMAs are bound or too loose. They should be pretty tough to push on because they have a pretty hefty spring inside of them. Make sure the valve retainers and keepers are seated properly. Basically, make sure nothing looks out of place. Last thing you want to have happen is something bind up or forget a socket or something after you put the valve cover back on.

#240935 It may just be the ticking noise from the injectors actuating. Some can sound quite laud.

But i would deffinatly still be checking the vavle clearences. :thumb:
