#43085 Hey guys,

My friends car doing something weird. He's got an LS/Vtec which he turbocharged. The past week the car started sounding like the turbo manifold was leaking but after lots of inspection we cant seem to find a leak. Now,it seems like the car has lost compression on one cylinder when starting it up.

We took the valvecover off and everything looks normal but after cranking the engine a bit it sounds like cylinder number one isnt sealing properly but the car doesnt smoke at all.Not even a litlle.

Any ideas?Burnt valve maybe?Or the valve seat came loose? :?

#43099 Could be a valve not closing properly, in the weekends I'm a taxidriver, and one of the companies here has a Chrysler Voyager on diesel, with a burnt valve... car sounds like it has no exhaust on it...

We checked the valvesprings and everything and the valves are opening and closing fully but it seems its not sealing properly.Maybe he burnt a valve.Dont think the seat would just dislodge itself.

Thanks for the info! :thumb:

#44138 Well, took the head off and found one burnt exhaust valve on cylinder no.1

What causes a valve to burn?
