- Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:19 pm #44065 I am seriously thinking about building an LSvtec or a B20vtec for my EJ1. I want to match it to a GSR tranny with a LS 5th. However Since its my Daily Driver, I am concerned about mileage/economy.

My Friend in a 92 VX Hatch with a LSvtec on the LS Tranny says he is only getting 16mpg, He does have a bad oxygen Sensor, but still only 16mpg?
So my Question for you guys is What are you guys Driving and what Mileage are you getting on it?

A stock GSR my buddy owns, gets roughly 30mpg mixed city. His max on the way from SF to LA was 33mpg.


No need for the shorter 5th. As long as you are not providing load on the engine while cruising, you will make good mpg.

As far as the milege goes, he should be getting alot better than that. He might need a tune to go along with that o2 sensor.

yeah, leave the gears be the gsr tranny gets great gass mileage my boy has a GSR and a full take last him liek 2 weeks and he drives plenty

and i get 30+ mpg mixed, with getting on it everynow and then.
