#96933 Theres a guy in town who wants to sell me a B20 with a b16 tranny in exchange for 1k and my stock d15b7. He'll even do the swap for me.

The things wrong with it is that the tranny grinds in the higher RPM's, and it burns oil when you get on it. He said the B16 trannys are notorious for grinding going into third gear at high RPM's. It has a new timing belt, plugs, and water pump.

My engine runs strong with no problems. what should I do? any suggestions on how to fix the problems listed?

#96936 he also said the oil leaks from the oil pan, "typical honda pan, leaks but no drips"

Guide me oh Civic-eg!

#96939 I dont think its worth it to put an engine and trans in when they already have problems. just save another g and get a b16 swap. and do the swap yourself. then either sell the d15b7 for a couple hundred bucks, or keep it for a backup. :thumb:

edit: or you could get a full D16z6/ D15b swap and still have money to spend on other stuff. and get more performance

#96943 Na i would keep your motor man.... isnt worth trading a good running motor for a tired out one...

#96957 yea i would definately keep your motor and yea sometimes its true that as b-series trannys age they tend to grind but they really shouldnt its all in how you drive it and well probaly in that motor and trans case it was driven hard. i would definately keep your d series motor for right now and then save up some cash and get another motor swap heck for a grand you could do a nice little turbo set-up or you could do a nice suspension upgrade or a whole bunch of other things including getting idk around you but around here i can get z6's almost everyday for no more than 300 and that is pretty much the full swap. so yea anyhow dont do it

#96996 Aw damnit.

I was SO looking forward to it too. He also has a b16 block w/o rods/pistons for 100 bucks. Would it be a good investment? What would it take to get it up and running? money and parts wise?

#97016 I think youd be better off with the block if you can find a good crankshaft, unless it comes with one finding pistons and rods are easy and this way really youd be starting off fresh your only most expensive peice would be either getting a head or getting a trans but yea id probaly go that route maybe talk him down to 75 or better yet 50 for the block lol then you cna go with what ever route you want with the motor and maybe do a turbo b lol but with anything its gonna cost money that motor swap would end up costing you too much in the long run might even end up failing but yea building your own motor seems to be the better option right now if you dont want to go out and buy a full swap from password jdm or hmotorsonline

#97034 As has been stated, you'd probably make him Jizz in his pants if you accepted that first offer, getting a running Z6 and $1K for his burnt out busted motor.

Don't do it.

#97126 If you want the block make sure it has the MAINs with it. Dont get it if it doesnt have them.

#97168 MAINs? I feel like a noob, but what's that? Why not spare me the trouble and just sell me one of your hatches!?

#97412 Make sure any motor or tranny is legit before you but. In vegas we have a team called VIPER that will cut your motor mounts and pull your engine and give you your car back w/out engine. And anything else they think maybe stolen.

Our town? Are you located in/around Austin?
