#232369 Got a Jdm B18c swap. And when im just cruising and pedal at a steady spot to keep a certain speed it seems like the car is not getting enough air or spark or fuel or something. It like hick ups very quick, sometimes give it gas to accelerate cuz it goes away when i do that. Sometimes that doesnt even work. Any ideas? Somebody said it could be the igniter in the distributor. Car only does it if i let it warm up.

#232372 Before i spend money on the car i wanna get a good idea of what the problem really is. Not just dump parts into it. Distributor isnt cheap, especially for a college student with tuition and books...etc.

i bought the car not knowing how many miles were on it. With the motor i got in there now i never changed it since i owned the car. Guess i can do that first considering its the cheapest thing to do.

#232517 Check:
Fuel Filter
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Ignition Timing

Replacing Distributor guts http://civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?p=223990
Might also change spark plugs too

Edit: Dont give up on your hatch satisfaction is always garenteed once you fix something yourself. If you keep fixing it you keep learning, Plus thats a damn good motor in a damn good car.

#232543 Well once you got the Civic, with a swap. it's always guna be a money pit.. =] :thumb:

Now is it relatively warm where you live? Actually your in Chicago so it's pretty damn cold now.. Since you mentioned it hapens when you warm up. That means heat is involved.. the ignitor/ICM is around 35 bucks... new.. over time that wears out with heat result in the spark being less and less.. since you mentioned your car becomes hesitant and sort of chokes on throttle., that could be an issue. when it happens do you get any check engine lights.. I had a similar issue. Mines turned out to be my TPS sensor. $30 bucks.. Ebay has a line of "upgraded" distributors with Higher heat taking ICMs. from Distributor king..

id say try the4 fuel filter if you havent done that ever since you got the car. 2 years is when those are to be replaced...

then try the ICM alone ($35) new..

there are 2 major Distributor sellers on ebay that all though it's ebay they sell certified good shit! Ive dealt with both and had no problems what so ever..

Distirbutor Kings..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BRAND-NE ... ccessories

and All Ignition Parts. (A.I)
These guys sell the coils alone also..

Thanks. But it sucks in my part. Love it but hate it. Love everything about it but Every time i start the car it revs up to 3krpm. and stays there till its warmed up. Then drops to normal, so gulps on gas. Once warm i have the problem im having now. Also, rpms shoot up and down when warmed up, been told its a vacuum leak, dont know where. Need new clutch, and head gasket. This car is putting me in the hole.
Even though there is no rust, underbody is coated with rubber sealant so no rust what so ever, no scratches or dings, and never had an accident.

ANYONE OFFER ME A GOOD PRICE ILL PROB LET IT GO!

That helps a ton. Ill look into it. But if my igniter or coil is going in the distributor cant i just put like a msd cap on it with an external coil? will that take care of it?
