#70435 LS Vtec Turbo stock internals. I have an LS thats getting a rebuild but w/ forged pistons and rods, then skunk2 or toda cams, the thing im wondering about is weather or not to go Vtec or not. obviously it would be cheaper and less work to skip it, but how much would i be skipping on the HP gains? its my daily but im keeping the D15 and tranny just in case. i guess thats it, thanks

#70462 it depends on what your hp goals are.

VTEC will have more potential for better flow high end for higher hp cars but if you aiming at 300whp, LS built can actually meet it no problem.

#72205 You wont need VTEC to hit 300-350 hp . You can do that easily on just the LS. And its fast as HELL too.

Cant really be a stock internal rebuild with forged pistons.

#72510 some info on it: engine was $200.00 the drive was 10 hrs (round trip) 120,000, from a 92' teg. may have a spun bearing, and the head has been milled .020",

Im going for skunk2 cams, valves, and springs, and if i can still afford it, TB and intake manifold. Forged Eagle rods, SRP pistons. The Boost will probably be a junkyard / Ebay setup while i figure out how to tune it and save more money if needed. I was gonna bore it out to a 2.0, but then I thought the pistons would've been more expensive and may have run into cooling problems... im keeping it simple.

thanks for the feedback guys, I'll keep this updated as it moves along

oh and anyone in the MA area feel free to hit me up -late

#72531 Sounds like a nice plan. How much boost are you planning to run? The stock sleeves cant only take the punishment for so long.

#72613 i was thinking about 15+psi, but im not sure of a few things:
1 im not even sure which turbo im getting yet. maybe a mitsubishi (garrett) T3 something w/ mid spool / high end power. not affraid of lag...

2 how much can the stock sleeves handle? it is a Daily, so i wont be beating the snot out of it all the time. possibly an electronic boost controller to vary it as i please

#74166 new issue: unless i can find a good set of cams like the TODA VTEC killers, I may take the time and money to do an LS/VTEC-T. they sound amazing!

#130199 just an update on the build, its been slow along with being laid off and wedding plans ( luckily shes a car girl so i can keep the project ) I picked up a 91 crx dx to put the LS in so i wouldn't have to rip apart my daily and so I could take my time with it. Its not much but here it is

#130219 I would say the 670 and 680 are the front wheels not the right side.

Oh, and skunk2 doesnt make non vtec cams. Nor does toda. VTEC only.

moving to B series section.

#130427 ya i figured that out once I searched for cams that were for my head, i was thinking rocket motorsprots or crower's cams. as far as the weight, I "trusted" that the scales were put in the correct slots, but i cant say for sure because i never checked. it was really to just get a benchmark weight before i start gutting it
