#78586 I'm weighing whether to go for my dream engine right off the bat (B18C) which would require a lot more saving approx $800 more; or whether to get the cheaper B16 and spend the money on some bolt ons and pocket the rest.

Please no "K series bro!!!" comments. Just want to hear from people with B16 and B18C swaps.

I'm going to sell my DA and possibly get another hatchback or a 94, 95 Integra. I'm keeping my current hatch how it is.

#78610 After driving in vehicles with both motor's installed B18> B16 all day long, other then revving higher then my B18B my motor felt more powerful cause of the more torque, i wasn't impressed with the B16 at all to be honest

#78709 Nice job. If I could pick one up for $800 I would swap it fast and never look back.

Good comments guys. Keep them coming.

I'm leaning toward getting a B18C and leaving it and the rest of the car completely stock (except to change the stereo and add an alarm). I want a second car that is just pure OEM comfort and reliability. But to get to that point I'll have to save up for another year.

B16B Price > B18C Price. Fro what you listed I would go the B18C1 route. They're pretty solid motors and make pretty decent power N/A, and you can still of course go turbo. But I do know a guy that has a B16A2 from the 99-00 SI's that made some pretty damn good numbers on completely stock internals going turbo, so that may be something to interest you. My recommendation would simply be to do some research and get a plan of what all you plan on doing in the long run and see what works best for you. Also, K series bro :thumb:

#78760 Could you put a Bisi F22A from an Accord in a civic? I've never heard of it, but I know they're cheaper, and bisimoto has alot of options for it.

#78763 they have the h2b kit which is compatible with f20 engines. think of a s2000 long block with a itr tranny...in a civic...fwd..

#78778 I have a b16 and I love it. Its not really modded either all I have is a lightened flywheel and a clutch.
I've beatin a LS teg. Off the line he got me but I eventually caught up and beat him by almost a full car length maybe a little less. I've also kept up with a modded gsr teg and a modded gsr coupe.
My b16 is pretty healthy also I have good compression numbers all across, barley beat on it when I swapped it in my car I replaced many parts to restore the power its lost in the past.
You won't have a fast car but it will deffinitly move and get out of its own way. if you have anymore questions feel free to PM me.

it's the same as swapping in an H22.

#78783 Believe me I'm way past the "research" stage. I'm just looking for people's personal feelings about their projects.

Yep. The hood doesn't fit. It's a nightmare. Propping the hood up looks like crap. I personally would never go near a H, K, or F. I would also never turbo a car. Too messy. All that is behind me. I like pure clean OEM look and reliability now. That's why I just want to drop in a B and be done with it. Stock intake and exhaust even. That's why I'm leaning toward a B18C. Anything else is just a never ending money pit. I have one of those already. Don't get me wrong, I love my hatchback. But for a second car the last thing I want is a project car.

I'm thinking about getting a GSR longblock and ECU and dropping it on top of my stock LS cable trans in my 92 Integra. That would be within my price range. I just replaced the clutch and had a mechanic inspect the trans. And I know the gearing on the LS tranny isn't the greatest, but it's quite comfortable and would get better mileage than the GSR trans. I look at it as a big power increase from stock vs comparing it to a stock GSR. My LS is super clean inside. I love the second Gen Integra I just hate the fact that it's a cable tranny. I've looked into hydraulic conversions and it just isn't worth it.

Initially my plan was to sell the LS and put that money toward a 94, 95 Integra or another EG shell and swap in a B.

And if a good deal comes along all of this could change. I always keep an eye out for EG and DC shells for sale. I may even go for a 88-91 Civic wagon 4WD or a 92, 93 4 door Accord and build the F22A. :?

#78789 From my personal experience the b16 is a big step up from a d-series. The car becomes a lot more fun to drive. Now the b18c hatches I've driven are even more fun. I understand the whole cash flow deal and trying not to get in debt over doing a swap. I'd say if you just want to step up from a d-series then go for the b16. For the money its definitely worth it, but that's just my opinion.

#78790 If the b18c is your "dream" engine, I would defiantly spend the extra $800 on it. You will not regret the swap its by far the best thing I have done to my si.

I also picked up a b16 for my cx, still a very impressive engine for what it is, and its by far the cheaper route to go then the gsr.

Both engines have been very reliable ad great on fuel. It all depends on what you want to spend, and what you have planed for the future in power
