The R also has a more agressive tranny gearing compared to a GSR..jdm or not. LSD....and the 98 spec R has a better final drive.

Spend a lil more and get a better stock motor. Better starting point for a Nice all motor build. Its a blast driving a stock 98 Spec R motor .
