#197374 UPDATE..

I'm now in Iraq, so thats what the delay on my build is.. Since my last post, I've seriously considered doing a RHD swap. The easiest way for me to make this happen and save a lot of buttpain is to ship in an eg6 sir clip and go with the B16 head and tranny. Its not what I originally wanted, but I can always swap it later if I want. and obviously that depends on whether i can actually get the damn clip when I'm ready to do this.. I'm in the middle of turbo selections and have some good leads on the GT35r, BW s366, etc. So thats where I'm at and what I'm doing. My guys at Millenium Race Development tell me that SK2 has gotten a bad wrap and he uses their parts in most every head he builds, including his own with no problems. Anyone have any thoughts?

#198062 if you really want the rhd clip go for it. i cant imagine how exciting it is to get half of a civic shipped to me from japan is. :eekdance:

cant go wrong with a gt35r! and sk2 makes good parts, i would personally use them, as long as theyre providing the performance your looking for. :thumb:

#198072 Looks like I'm gonna hold off on the RHD/clip. I'll be shipping the car soon after the build and I don't have time to worry about customs crap, or someone not knowing how to drive rhd at the shipyard jackin my clutch up. I'm looking to do a custom turbo similar to the GT3584R, but waiting on some more info. I should have a little bit better list to go off of soon since its being compiled right now. I'm lookin at DSS 3.9 axles and an AEM fuel rail over the skunk2. Several people i spoke with said the hasports weren't holding up and recommended DSS. I like the way the S2 composite rail looks, but I'm not sure it'll be able to handle 550whp.

#198145 You won't need the DSS 3.9 axles for 550...that just insane overkill. Those are rated to like...750whp, IIRC.

The OEM fuel rail is capable of flowing enough fuel for 500whp, so I would imagine the Skunk2 fuel rail will be capable of WAY more than that. And you can bore it out easier than the aluminum fuel rail from AEM, assuming you ever need more than 800whp.

#198213 Unless DSS changed their website overnight, their 3.9's are rated to 600hp, and the ones under it won't cover 550. Oh, wait.. I've got the link right here: http://www.driveshaftshop.com/pdetail.php?pid=38 . As for the skunk2 rail, I won't be boring a "composite" rail. At this point, the composite rail would be more for looks than anything. That'll be okay for show, but I've been talking to a few people who suggest not doing the composite rail because it may or may not hold up. If it was just my buddy or a guy at the local car meet, maybe I'd doubt the reasoning. These guys have over a thousand B-series builds under their belt, including the use composite rails on a few of them. Please, if you have any input on my build I'm looking for it. The more info I get the better I can plan my projekt. But it took me literally 1 minute and 23 seconds to go to DSS and get the right info before posting this.. Thanks anyway.

#198366 Tell ya what brother, i'm gonna look a little more into the composite rail from skunk and see what i can find. I'd like to give everyone here, including myself, a better knowledge of this piece and what it may or may not be able to do.. stay tuned!

#198631 Couple interesting tid-bits.. according to their websites, AEM hi-flow rails are bored at 1/2" internally, while S2 is bored to 0.625 and also features angled ports to the injectors, not to mention their street tests showed up to a 3% cooler fuel temp due to it being a composite material. definitely not what I was told and I'm glad you stopped by to see me aagain after so long dude!

Also, I was going through the stack of magazines i brought with me to the desert and i ran across an article in the Mar10 issue of D-Sport. a 715hp integra utilizing a B18A block and a B16 head. Major parts: bored to 84mm and sleeved by RS, arias 9:5:1 pistons, eagle rods, comp cams 284-degree cams, portflow head components/work, honda factory head gasket (not making that up), ARP studs, VictorX mani, edelbrock 75mm TB, RC 1600cc, Aeromotive A-1000 fuel pump, Hondata s300, MSD 6AL, toda oil pump gear, jegs fuel sump, MSD 3-step w/launch control, GT4294R turbo(sweet jesus!), etc..

I'm actually installing an aftermarket head gasket, darton sleeves, thinking about boring to 84mm, but other than that, its almost the same level build.., minus the BIG A$$ compressor. any reason why mine wouldn't make 700whp? Anyone? In theory.., and i say in theory, all i should need is a bigger turbo and possibly bigger injectors, maybe larger fuel pump.. He's using a BDL industries fuel rail also, netting 715whp/480tq @ 28psi running 10.43 in the quarter. I'm looking at tuning back from 550 to around 350 for normal driving, but with the right suspension (looking at megan racing) and wheel setup, i don't think i'd have a problem putting 400-450 to the ground with minimal worries for trips to the grocery store. What say everyone?

#201414 Alright.. I've been getting the run around with the shop I was talking to so I started shopping around for a new place to spend my money. Sad that you can't give 20k away (don't bother asking, no u cant have it :P). I think I may have found a new shop and according to their estimates I'm looking closer to 16k. Not a bad cost reduction although I'm sure there'll be some incidentals that'll come up, there always is. Aside from that, and that it's finally over 120 degrees here, not a lot is new.

I'll be in the market for a B16 head, bare if possible, and an itr transmission if anybody sees one laying around anywhere. I'm not in a rush, good parts are what I'm looking for.

#201444 Hooray for lower prices on quality goods/services! Boo 120 degrees... It's averaging 100-103 here in North Texas.

#202788 Anybody know where I can find a gsr tranny for cheap? It has to be in good shape. I checked a few import sites and they want close to a grand. I'm sure i can find one cheaper somewhere. Any ideas?

#203007 They go for about $500-600 here in the Dallas area. I imagine shipping a 90lb chunk of aluminum and steel wouldn't be cheap anywhere, but more so shipping it to the desert. Where are you from here in the States? I'm sure they would be less than a grand there.

#203019 why the hell would i want to ship a tansmission to iraq??? You're starting to worry me brother. I may be able to score some for cheap over in va. as well, but the way they ride out there, i figure i'm better off paying a little extra for something a little less driven. Everybody in va with a gsr thinks he's speed racer.

Still looking for a gsr tranny and a bare b16 head. anybody know of any sites that aren't charging close to a grand for the tranny?
