what is the differences in the different b18's?

Someone I am talking to about a b18 swap has a b18a and a b18c.

As always, your help is appreciated.

b18a or b18b are considereds ls meanin 1.8L non vtec the difference between those would be the year... and b18c would be considered a gsr which is 1.8L vtec engine

ah. Is the gsr one more valuable? Well, stupid question, lol.

How much more is it worth than a ls?

Thanks for a specific answer.

its not that its CONSIDERED LS or GSR, that just happens to be the cars the motors came in.

B18c swap will be more expensive and have more potenial.

Gsr swap can run from 2500 to 3000.

LS swaps wont be more than 2000.

I found a integra gs, and I'm debating on trading him the 240 for it. He is interested, and says the car doesn't run because his friend did something with the wiring and now it needs a new dash harness. wtf is a dash harness? The motor came out of a da and only has 124k on it.

Decisions decisions...

Dash harness is the harness inside the dashboard.

It's somewhat difficult to swap in an OBD-0 engine into an OBD-I car. You either have to convert the engine to an OBD-I setup, or swap over the dash harness, instrument cluster, climate control, engine harness, both fuse boxes...

I would keep the 240 and hang out until you find an OBD-I B18B1 or B18C1 that is literally plug and play (of course you need the required parts for the swap).

Got ya. I'm pretty sure I found what I'm looking for though, and the guy wants the 240 pretty bad and is willing to give me a lot of extra parts and a few sets of rims, lol. Will keep updated. Need a build thread started, haha.

Word. Just be wary of the older B18s. They tend to have closer to 200,000miles on the clock...typically. Sometimes you'll find a gem with low mileage.

Good luck with what ever you do!

The one I'm looking at has about 140k, and I know where another one is with 120k. Whats your thought on that?

Go for it if you are ok with converting the engine to OBD-I from OBD-0.

Which one do I need? I was thinking I needed a obd1 to not convert it, which would be 90-93 (as in 94-95 was obd2). Am I wrong? lol. Hell, I've read so much, it wouldn't suprise me at this point.

obd1 showed up on some 1992 integras and a the 93 integras after that 94-95 had obd1 and from then on your looking at 96+ obd2

to convert the b18a into obd1 youll need
wireing harness
dizzy,
ecu
injectors
and now i was told the best intake for obd1 set-up is from a 1994-1995 integra because the da integras intake seems to have a poor design if you will.....well thats at lest what my friend who deals with b series morethan me tells me but yea its 10 or so hp difference i think he told be

but yea its not as hard since alot of the obd0 sensors will swap over for the obd1 harness its just the main drive units that youll need to switch out....

now the transmission is your hardest part if you will. to find for a decent price you will be able to use the cable from the da but what you really want is a obd1-2 integra hydro trans since our eg's are hydro trans to begin with.....

Ok, I trying to understand it the best I can, lol. I will find out if it is obd1 or what and then go from there to see what I will need. I'm wanting to go the "plug and play" route but I can't think of many people that wouldn't lol. Do I want it to be obd1 or what?

It doesn't matter if the B18A1 is a '92-'93 (OBD-I). It shares the same sensors as the OBD-0 B18A1. You'd have to convert the engine anyways. The only difference (as far as I know) is the ECU and ECU connectors (but don't quote me on that part). Someone else would be able to tell you exactly what the differences between the OBD-0 B18A1 and OBD-I B18A1.
