#196912 first off, this is not my motor. im posting what i know about it/what he tells me

B18b1 block. b16 head. Type r internals. everything done "right".
Problem is no VTEC. He hooked up a GSR p72 ECU and it throws a "knock sensor" code. Driving on a p28 computer is throws no codes, but still no VTEC. It is pinned for VTEC and wires are done.

Any ideas?

#196917 could be an oil pressure switch problem, is the oil feed plumbing done right on the engine? it could be a bad solenoid as well, id check the vtec solenoid pressure assembly screen too :?

All oil feeds and such are hooked up right, its pinned right.

Couple other people said the solenoid could be clogged. how would we go about checking this?

#197130 the vtec solenoid assembly has 3 bolts that run into the head, take them loose and check that screen first, and then unbolt the solenoid from that if its nessecary.... heres two good pics that should help, sorry i know there big pics but there the best ones i found...

#197133 on a side note, to test the oil pressure switch, you can take a pice of wire and stirp 2 ends of it and put it into the oil pressure switch plug and jump it like that...

youd do it something like that but on the green oil pressure switch plug.... :thumb:
