#203252 So hears the story, my head gasket was leaking wich resulting in my B16a overheating...so i went to the machanic replace the gasket, and get a compression test.ect.
And he found out that the head was warped alittle so thay ended up Shaving it, dont know how much was shaved off.
My question is wats that going / or not do to the engine, i mean how is it goin to affect the power or compression ? or is it not goin to do any thing?
i dont know :?

#203266 depending on how much was taken off....you may have valve clearance problems and to make sure that dosent happen youd have to do a valve adjustment id set it to the the maximum tightness or clearance so as theres a better chance you wont have a vlave hit....but if they didnt take alot off then this might not even be a problem compression will be a bit different but nothing major....so yea thats really the only things i can think of that might be a problem...

#203267 doesn't look as if much was taken out....don't know for sure, will ask when i go bac to the machanic..

1 more thing if you can help me when thay say the heads warp what does that mean? the surface is uneven? twisted head? dents?
as you can see im totaly lost with stuff like dis.

#203272 when the head it warped it was caused by over heating, or the sort. when they shaved the head its called "decking" they will usually take off the minimum off. by the thousandths. the surface of the head where it meets the block is uneven and will cause it to leak or make it have premature head gasket failure again. now is a good time to replace the water pump and timing belt if it needs to be replaced.

they wouldn't take that much off to worry about valves hitting if they did they would tell you that your head was done to far out to maching/deck/shave/ back flat.

if you asked them to shave it down to the point past recommended specs they would worn you of the risks your taking.
