b20 vtec need help!!

Alright so my friend has a b20v and it was idling fine a couple days ago and yesterday and today when you start it the motor will idle for a sec then bog and kill itself and it will shot off. I have no idea what's doing it. Any suggestions?[/i]

same problem with me idle real low...cleaned out the IACV same thing.....im jus gonna adjust the idle screw......or should i?

    It will be your Idle set screw or IACV. Clean the iACV and if that doesnt fix it then reset the idle. Make it slightly higher. Also clean the FITV.

    ha bud i told you the other day to clean the idle air control valve and then maybe look into cleaning the fast idle thermo valve. is that b20v really not running right again?? good luck man hope it gets fixed quick :thumb:

    Ha it runs as long as you keep it revved to 2k. Once it warms up though it will idle perfectly fine. You saw how different the idle becomes once it goes from cold (1.5-2k rpm) then 1k when warmed up.

    that sounds like the fast idle thermal valve then.

    mines is the complete opposite it revs up to bout 1k until its warmed up then drops as low as 200...i haven't touch the idle screw as yet cuz my knock sensor isn't in its still on the other block, im thinking thats wat causing the low idle "i cud be dead wrong" but i dont want to meddle with any thing until thats in...

    Well then I guess I am coming over so you can show me how to clean Haha. Not to fond of how to clean it, also my phone is frozen Tyler that's why I can't call back. Stupid pos phone lol
