#224466 After enough research I have decided that I am going to build an LS motor for boost so that I can daily drive with some reliability.

I know most LS blocks are the same but when i look up the specs I find that some have higher horsepower rating than the other.

...The stroke and bore are the same...

I assume the head is the same. Does the power difference come in the tunning or in the head design?

I plan on sleeving the block and changing most of the internals so that i can push 300+ without worrying about my engine. So I gues the question I am really trying to ask is.

Out of all the LS engines which would you choose to build? Is there a difference in cranks? better flowing heads?

#224474 If your going to sleeve and build an engine, go to any junkyard and pick up any b18b(94-01). I prefer the OBD2(96-01) Versions as they come with the smoother Valve Cover. and its super easy to convert from obd2 to obd1, Use an OBD1 wiring harness, alternator fuel injectots and dizzy(or rebuild your dizzy using our DIY article) and your gold.

A stock b18b with ARP Rod Bolts and ARP Headbolts should be good for 300hp. However the Boost bug will bite and you will want more so it makes since to build it up with Forged Rods and Pistons at the least. Maybe some Turbo Cams.

Match that engine to a b18C GSR Transmission(preferablly with a LSD) and some Really sticky tires(maybe even drag radials) and go rape some people.

If your planning on doing Autocross, Circuit Track Days, or Similar Events driving a Supercharged setup would be better as its instant torque. However for Drag Racing and the like Going with Turbo will be better.

If you want to run a Supercharger its almost impossible to find a b18b Super Charger, You can get b16 and b18c gsr jackson racing super chargers but not the b18b ls. If you look on google it will show you how to put a B16 intake manifold(Or Super Charger) on a b18b ls head.

#224485 For your question about the different ls motors, I think one is JDM and the other is USDM. The JDM motor has more horsepower because of higher compression if I can remember correctly.

#224661 the power differences come fom the yrears of the motors. the da b18a motors, the b18b from the dc all had different ratings. the dc motors has two ratings by them selves.

This is exactly what i needed to hear. Thank you sir!

I plan on going turbo. b18b block is what I looking for then.
