will a p61 run a b18c1? or should i get the p72?

are the ecus even different in reguards to timing and fuel curves? and do they both look for the same sensors and what not?

also i plan on getting it chipped and tuned after the motor is broken in.

p61 is obd1 b17 gsr. Its a very different engine then the obd and obd2 b18c gsr.

The b17 gsr has a b16 head, its basically a stroked out b16. While as the b18c is its own completly different engine, different head, different block, different pistons, etc.

The p61 will run a b18c gsr, however Unless you plan on chipping it I wouldn't run it for a long time, It wont give the correct fuel and spark timings. the 1.8 b18c1 gsr will want.

Ok cool that what I sorts thought so I figured I would ask.

So I have a p72 with hondata s100 in it, however its all tuned for a boosted motor and my new high compression motor barley runs with it.

Should I get a stock p72 abz break in the motor then have it chipped or is there a way un-tune the s100 so I can run my ecu stock without the removing the. S100?

What would you do?

the s100 is by no means a permnet tune. take the car the shop that will dyno tune the car. just make sure they tune hondata. tell them you have s100. dont rea u notor on a untuned ecu. that is very bad.

for sure so what should i do?

as of right now my plan of attack is to send my ecu in and have a base map put on it to compliment all the specs of the built motor.

then drive the car to break in the motor for a month or so (really light driving)

then go back and have the dyno tune done to really fine tune everything,

what do you think :? im really confused on this right now :(

i have also been told to get a p28 and have a gsr map put on it with changes to compliment the built motor??

like i im super confused!

ohh also the reason i cant use my ecu is because the s100 in the ecu i have is tuned for a boosted motor.....hahahaha quite different from high comp all motor

break that bitch in while getting dyno tuned. seats the rings better than babing it for thousands of miles.

x2,your'e best bet would be to get the car towed to the shop were you plan on tuning it that way you don't spend money on a basemap that you won't need down the road

ha too late for that good idea :? i drove my ecu to the nearest tuner (2hrs away) and had a pretty good base map installed that will take into account for all my mods.

ill break her in and then go get a dyno tune.

thanks for the help guys

How do you plan to brake the motor in? Let us know before you start.

Generally I drive them easy foe about a grand. I mean I have heard pros and cons of both break ways. I usually don't baby it just drie it normal with ought going past hlf throttle.

How would you do it?
