so i managed to get the rail to stop leaking and started cranking the motor. i turn the key and it fires up first try. problem is, it has a horrible misfire and sounds like a cammed v8! my theory is because awhile back i broke a spark plug stub off the distributer cap and plastic "welded" it back on but it wasn't really on that straight cuz of break. could this be the problem? or could it be something more severe? any help would be greatly appreciated.

replace the cap this may allow water into the distributor possibly causing this problem it could also be a clogged filter which may have been caused by the crud in the line .....id say replace the cap first they are cheap enough or geta decently good used one for cheap and see fi it changes after that if its still acting up check your fuel psi and if it slow id check the filter then the pump....

also unsure but could you maybe of put the spark plugs on in the wrong order?? sometimes itd still fire and run but sound horrible and not do too much .....

well i'll try the cap first when i get back home. but the filter could be a possibility because the car sat for six months but i drained the tank and put new gas in it before the fuel pump ever primed itself. and for the firing order i triple checked it cuz i thought it could be that too, but its right. i think it may be the ignition system tho because when i hit the gas it sounded like it wasn't running on all cylinders and it actually kinda cut out entirely.

Did you set the gap on the plugs? I agree with what they said, a new cap and fuel filter for sure.
