sacrifices for power steering\a/c

- Fri Jan 07, 2011 3:37 am #231847 once a motor is built (balanced), it can go without a heavy harmonic stabilizer and some people run a tiny lil thing just to run the alt. my question is can i slap a stock crank pulley back on a built motor or is it tuned for the lack thereof?

True with a Type-R Engine, Be it the B16B, or the B18C5/B18cR. These have been perfectally internally balanced.

However Thats expensive. On Honda's Non Type-R Engines, Even the High Revving B16A, B18C1(GSR/SiR-G) they are not perfectally internally balanced and use the Crank shaft pully as a Stabilizer. This is why its a bad idea to put a "Type-R" or "lightened" crank shaft pully on your non-Type-R or Blanced and Blueprinted engine. It wont have the correct counter weights and put more stress on your rod bearings,

To Answer your Question, if your bottom end has been perfectally balanced, then yes you can safely run a Lighter Crank pully. However if by "built" you just mean putting better rods in it and not touching the crank to balance it, then No, It wont be safe to put on a lighter crank pulley.
