ok iv got a uk eg6 vti but a previous owner has put the jdm b16a sir engine in it. it runs fine apart from when you hit the limiter, it then throws the engine light on. it stays off if you just switch off car and then back on again. i did the checking code thing but it didnt flash any codes the light just came on and stayed on. iv found out this sometimes means a faulty ecu. this made sense at the time as it still had the original vti ecu fitted, i then sent it off to h-tune and he socketed it and put on the proper jdm b16a sir engine basemap, then tested the ecu and gave it the all clear. i fitted it back onto car today and went for a drive, only to find the same problem still here. any ideas whats causing this light to come on? also it does hit the limiter in 1st and 2nd but while its doing it the cel light comes on but doesnt stay on, it only stays on when your giving it thrash from 3rd gear onwards. anyone any ideas?????

If your getting a CEL(Check Engine Light),Instead of randomly guessing as to what the issue could be, Let your engines computer which detected the problem tell you.

DIY on how to check your CEL:
