B16, B18, B20

#44097 Heres the deal....i have a 94 civic ex/si....with a D16Z6 (1.6L Vtec) motor in it now and i am looking into swapping a b16 in it. I was wondering which type of b16 should i be looking for so i can keep it obd1...liek my car. Should i be looknig for a b16A...B16A2....B16A3?
Ive been told if i get an obd1 b16 motor...it is pretty much plug and play...i can use my stock harness and just get my ecu (P28) chipped.

#44121 JDM B16A span from obd0 to obdII.


Just make sure it is an OBD1 but looking at the engine harness and the fuel injector clips.


B16A3 is the DEL SOL VTEC motor and that came in OBDII and OBDI. The OBDI is the 95 one. 96-97 uses OBDII B16A3s.

#44133 Well i might be buying just teh block this weekedn....the guys says its a b16a2...obd1. What should i look for to make sure its obd1?

#47103 you can see it on many parts,if it´s obd1 it will have P30ecu, read manyfactory year on a block,must be 92-95,can spot it on harnes conectors...

it´s not just plug&play,some parts must be from B serias not D´s

#47551 i just got a jdm B16A that was obd1 already then i didn't have to mess with all that. but the jdm is a little more of a hassle because you might have harness length issues due to the car it came from being RHD.

he can always use the EX/Si harness on that motor

#47565 thats what i did, but you will need to get the P30 or chip the P28 thats in it now.

#48287 most usual things to look for is the dizzy, should have 2 plugs colored gray. injector clips on obd1 and obd0 are exactly similar. hmm... and also... as for the wiring harness.. your oem harness is perfect. has all clips for every sensor, just because a JDM car is RHD dont mean the motor isnt facing the same way. so there-for the wiring harness is the same just except for the towers between the two.
