D15 to B18A1 Swap Questions

Hey guys,
Been cruising the forums and finding lots of info on swaps. I have an older B18A1 from a 93 DA9 teg sitting in my backyard, and I have my daily driver a 94 Civic DX with a D15.
I was looking into doing a y8 head and intake manifold swap, but I don't want to run the risk of being without a car all summer if something doesn't work out for whatever reason, which lead me to thinking it would be less problematic to just compression test the B18, rebuild if necessary and swap er in.
Am I right in thinking this? I figure the B series engine would be better anyways as it's got more power stock and more displacement. I've read that swaps can be pretty easy as long as you stick with your OBD generation. Is this a fairly straightforward swap? I did read on hondaswap that it was not a recommended swap. As far as I know both engines are OBD1, does this mean the swap is plug and play? Any info on the swap would help!
