b18c adjustable cam gears question

ok so i bought a gsr engine with some aem adjustable cam gears, so my question is how do they work? do they have to be retarded or advaced? and how many degres? they are at zero right now but i wanna se what they can do.... any help would be great thanx.... :thumb:

The only way to know is to use a dyno. No two engines respond the same. And going in either direction invariably helps you. The problem is that you gain in one part of the power band and sacrifice in another.

It's not as simple as adjusting each one a certain way. Adjusting one affects the valve overlap between the intake and exhaust. Overlap is good in the high RPMs of a N/A engine. Bad in the low RPM's, and bad for forced induction.
