#108722 OK so lets start with a little background:
I bought my hatch with 87,000 approx miles on it
that was back in sept of 08?
well the d15b8 was slow
and i heard the d16z6 was a good engine to learn on and a decent motor to build :thumb:
so i bought one at a local Honda shop ( Newington Auto Parts for you CT ppl )

And thats where the fun began...

Image

$650.00 w/ complete harness AND a guarantee to start and not have any cracks in the head/block/crank/cam.. etc w/ 6 month warentee

Image

once i got it to my buddys gargage

Image

let the fun begin lol ( like the flat black??? )

Image

hood was annoying...

Image

spraying all the mounts, bolts, connections etc.....

Image

i was gonna put my stock headlights back in too but i forgot them at my work

Image

everything is disconnected i think...?

Image

Going down????? :woot:

motorcycle jacks come in handy :thumb:

Image

where did it go? who cares it was slow...

Image

i love this picture!!!!!! my hatch threw up an engine :thumb:

Image

new motor going up :woot:

Image

another angle of going up ( again motorcycle jacks are nice )

Image

plugging everything in

Image

SOOO SEXY :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Image

ooooiiiiiilllllll chaaannnngeeeeee lol

well thats really all the good pictures i have
it started right up on the second turn of the key =]

i had some issues with fittament on the upper right hand side motor mount.
and my vtec isnt wired yet. i dont understand how too...?

other then that stuff.. it runs very good and im happy with it.

#108727 Nice Nice :thumb:
I love D16z6's. What Transmission are you using? the one from your D15b8? If so it will get better fuel economy, However will be slower then an EX/Si Transmission that originally is mated with the D16z6.

A Light CX Hatch with a D16z6 will be fun. :hehe:
If your CX is a 92 its prewired for vtec. however if its a 93-95 Then you have to wire it yourself.

I can understand the disgust of a D15b8. My Sedan has a d15b7 and its so so slow.

Wiring stuff is found in the Minime Thread. (I can remove the quote if you like.)
teal_dx wrote:Once you have everything back together it is time to install the new ECU and additional wiring for vtec. The ecu is behind the carpet on the outside passenger foot area. Looking at the ECU pinout, you'll need to run the vtec solenoid to the A4 pin.

Vtec colenoid on a stock D16z6

There are 2 wires on the Oil Pressure sensor.

The black wire is ground, orange goes to D6 on the ECU

Looking straight into the back of the sensor, the wire in the bottom of the pic will run to the D6 pin on the ecu, the top wire is just run to the chassis as a ground. Just be sure you have the sensor the right way when determining the D6 wire from the ground, hold it and compare the tabs on the outer edge to those in the pic. Use some connectors and heat shrink, do it right. If you can't get the harness clips to connect to the sensors, you can use a small butt connector and cover it with silicone as I did. I filled that back area of the sensor with silicone to make it weather proof.

Here is where you wish you had a 1992 hatch. All 92 hatches were pre-wired for vtec up to the passenger shock tower. Just look at the color of the wires for the A4 and D6 pins on the ecu and find them at the shock tower. Tap into them there and connect your sensors. Otherwise you will have to run the 2 wires through your firewall to your ECU.
