#133416 How long have I owned my MR2 for? A couple of months?

I drove a stage 1 S13 today. I really liked it. I might buy it if someone takes the MR2 off my hands.

It was so much fun, I cannot possibly describe how much fun it was. Turbo spooled instantly and it pulled like a train. Engine rebuilt 11k ago, needs some cosmetic work but it is pretty much a car I could drive and just tweak every other weekend.

I wanted to keep the MR2 for a while, and promised myself I wouldn't even go to look at an S13 until I was out of university. Fail.

#133429 I spent £900 on it since I bought it just making the bloody thing work right lol

Don't get me wrong, it's a great car but it has some shortcomings which can't really be fixed.

I have wanted an S13 for aaaaaaaaaages, since I saw one when I was a kid and it is pretty much my dream car. Turns out it drives as good as it looks with a little fettling as well.

I dunno, it will inevitably cause me problems in the long run I guess but it would definately be a long term keeper - which I never bought the MR2 as in all fairness.

Requires further thought.

#133477 personally im getting sick of s13's/240's in general. everyone in my town is buying them and i have yet to find only one i truely would kill for. kid has a rb25 (skyline motor) in it, but that was $10k on top of what he paid for the car and such

i say fix up the MR2 and even if it requires more money/time.
beast on a couple s13's...your car taste can always change, with money and time you could do it and love the MR2..

No. And I don't think the majority of people are building their cars to make other people happy wouldn't you agree? ;)

I've wanted an S13 for as long as I can remember - that isn't suddenly going to change regardless of what I do to the car. MR2 has a lot of shortcomings that you just cannot overcome with modifying - it's a short wheelbase, mid-engined car. Great in the dry, sketchy in the wet. Especially as a turbo.

I can pour as much money as I want into the MR2, as far as I'm concerned (and was when I bought it) it would be a waste as I really don't want to keep the car long term. Don't get me wrong it's a good car, but it isn't my car. And that's the difference.

It's a good thing that people are sorting S13s - they're rust prone and have a few issues. Kind of like an EG ;) Would you complain if more people bought EGs and started tinkering?

I'm gonna hold fire for August, and then make a decision at the beginning of September. I can clear my overdraft, have a good think and then decide.

True, but how much do you save buying one that's already there? lol

S13 = seems like everybody is building them nowadays

MR2-T > S13

TAke a look around, how often do you see S13's? all the fucking time, now how often do you see MR2's? barely ever.

Stick with the MR

#133525 I have seen 3 S13s on the road in the last 6 months. Three.

I see four MR2s a day.

MR2s might be rare where you are, they sure as hell aint here.

And I don't have a turbo. I'd have tro convert to, or buy one. Something I don't intend to do regardless of what decision I make.
