- Sun Sep 06, 2009 12:15 am #141998 i kno the availability of parts is more common for the d16. i already have a jackson racing supercharger kit and a crower head kit i was jus wonderin which is better stock. specwise the d15 seems superior with the stronger internals annd horsepower ratios. jus curious of what u guys thought or heard about each motor

i have a d15b with a ported and polished y8 head, si tranny and all the usual bolt ons and i kill z6's and b16's..stock i think it has like 130 but i havent been able to dyno mine after all the work...

- Sun Sep 06, 2009 9:56 pm #142143 I had a SOHC ZC VTEC which is basically a JDM D16Z6. It was a good motor but nothing really inspiring about it. But in the next hatch I got I put a D15B. Very little difference but this motor loves to rev. Lots of fun. It has a superior rod/stroke ratio and makes the same hp and torque eventhough it's .1 less displacement. I sold my hatch but if I ever had to do it again, I'd go with the D15B VTEC unless ZC's were on sale or something.

I don't know what people mean about the parts. It's all the same parts. If the engine internals are different, I wouldn't worry about that. It's cheaper to get another JDM replacement than to do a rebuild.

- Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:47 pm #142149 i disagree...i love the d16z6 engine. mine had 201xxx miles on it and it ran like a raped ape :hehe: my z6 smokes b16 ek coupes and b18b ek sedans all day! and all it has is I/H/E. oh and about the buying another jdm motor for cheaper than a rebuild....that crap.... cause ya they have low miles but nothing is better than rebuilding your motor and knowing it got done right using better aftermarket parts along with brand new oem stuff. plus the z6 makes an awesome boosted motor :)

i have a d16a6 that runs awesome and has 246k on it... its a honda of course it will hold up to high milage.. what all was done to your z6 because i kill them, b16's, ls, and ls vtec's...... jw because i havent found any other single cam that can stand up to me around here lol
