#142663 so instead of building my block i found a deal on a d15b. i finally got it in and started the other night after goin through teals checklist when starting a motor for the first time. but after a few minutes and a test run there is a knock. the guy who sold me the motor said it only had about 30k miles on it. the knock happens when there is no load and when im driving. the knock speeds up as the rpms raise so im guessing its internal. i read something about pre-detonation on here so im hoping thats it. im going to check the timing again tonight but any suggestions guys. im really hopin i dont have to open up another motor. :(

oh i have an aem fuel rail and blox fuel regulator but its set to stock pressure.

#142694 maybe yor knock sensor is bad
and not tellin the computer to retard the timing when its
detonation.. but 1st check ur timing
oem spec are 16+- 2 degress
but there is a trick to our hondas when doin the timing

*1st let the car warm up till the fan turns on and off 1 times

*2nd go under the glove box and find the 2 wire conecter
(the conector when u jump the ecu to find the cel
http://www.civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?t=1558 )
this keep the ecu from advancing your timing when setting it

*3rd check it, you should be around 16* +- 2*
if ur off, loosen the 3 bolts of the dizzy and adjust it till ur around the 16*
titen the dizzy, unjump the ecu and test drive it!

sounds like alot.. i just did this last week
the 1st time i did my timing i set it at 11* cause i didtn do this process
now it runs great!

also check ur oil, if ur timin is fine then its a rod knock
GL mna hope this helps :thumb:

#142712 from the description, it sounds more like a rod knock than predetonation.

if you want to check, jack up the car, use jackstands, drain the oil, drop the exhaust manifold, drop the oil pan.
check all four rod 'big ends' for excessive play - forwards and back.
if one of the rod is loose enough to knock you should have no trouble determining which one it is.

#142741 it knocks at all rpms and when i pulled the spark plug wires to check if it was a certian rod it didnt stop when i pulled any one wire.

#142744 also it sounds like its coming from the injectors or at least close to the manifold so im guessing its something to do with my detonation. is this just a timing thing or is there another solution.

When you launch @ 4500 and Vtec hits at 4800 it doesn't count.
