#165895 i have a 94 civic dx 5 sp. with the d15b vtec. sometimes it drives great. other times it doesn't. when i hit the gas the car has power then around 3500rpm it goes sluggish. and then about 6 it takes off again the car doesn't always run this way. the vtec feels like it is kicking in fine. car is running rich. the intake and throttle body is off the d16 vtec. the air charge temp sensor is badly damaged when it came out of old intake could that cause a problem. i raced my friends turbo crx and kept up with him after first installing the intake now it doesn't stand a chance. it does have a tune up. ram air intake. edelbrock headers and magnaflow exhaust the rest of the way back. it now has a new oxygen sensor too. thanks a bunch. i look forward to hearing from you all.

#165898 first questions is do you have any Check engine lights?

if so those are the first place to look at.

What ECU are you running?

Something I would recommend trying is pulling your back up fuse(7.5amp) its under your hood next to your battery. Have it out for about 30 seconds. Put it back in and see if there is any difference.

With it loosing power like it is. It very well could be a dirty or bad sensor. I would clean all the sensors on your intake manifold with carborator cleaner. as well as getting a replacement for your damaged "air charge temp sensor"

Check the code and let us know what you get. The code will tell you what's wrong and take out the guess work most of the time :thumb:

#167475 the codes that came up were for the vtec spool solenoid and iac but the iac is unplugged because of its wild idling when hooked up. also the air charge sensor is damaged so it is being replaced so waiting on that to see if it has anything to do with the iac. the vtec kicks in sporadically and not as strong as it probably should be when it does.

#167478 i wouldn't be beating on it till you get things sorted out. "sporadic Vtec" doesn't sound like its good for the motor...

#169173 my valve cover has been leaking for awhile. turns out my oil was low. i won't let that happen again. now just need to get the idle figured out.

#169175 bleed your coolantmore thanlikely either your iacv needs cleaning or you have air in your coolant....

to bleed your coolant open the cap on the radiator and grab the bottom hose prefer to do this whenits mildly warm...so it can go thru the motor but just slowly pump /squeeze until you see visibly that there is nomore bubbles comming up you have just bleed your coolant you should now be good with your idle....

if that dosent help may be your iacv needs cleaning etc...
