#170322 Morning All,

I have a 95 cpe d15b w/154k, used as a dd by my daughter-in-law, and it has an oil leak coming from between the oil pan and tranny. I would clean the area as best as can, and let it run then sit for abit and it would slowly drip again. I snugged up the pan bolts, but still leaks. And I removed the tranny shield to check for leaks or oil and there wasn't any. I think the pan gasket should be changed anyway, but could it be the rear main seal leaking?? If it was the seal, wouldn't there also be tranny fluid leaking?
How difficult is it to change the oil pan gasket, and is there a write-up procedure?

Thanks for the help.

#170323 wouldn't be any tranny fluid leaking and the oil pan gasket is an easy install if you know your way around a wrench. as far as the write up i would suggest the search feature. :thumb:

#170351 I don't think there has been a DIY done yet for oil pan gasket...

But as mentioned it's cake. If you're planning on maintaining the car for a while, a Helms/Chiltons manual is your best friend for $20.

Key to the oil pan is to loosen/tighten the bolts gradually, in a criss cross pattern. Then getting everything clean is just as important. when putting back together, put a little Hondabond on the block on each side of the 'humps' where the gasket sets to seal that corner. Also do the same on the pan. I put a little all the way aver the humps just to be sure.

#170401 Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I'm keeping the car for awhile. And I have a Chiltons book, which is easy and always helpful, but I didnt think about checking it until after I posted....... sorry :?
I got the oil pan gasket handy, but no Hondabond. Is that basically the same as rtv sealant? I when I checked under the engine, I noticed I'll have to remove the exhaust pipe for complete clearance. I think I'll go to the junkyard first and maybe find one in good shape and go from there.
My main concern was whether I was looking at a rear main seal leak or not....... just hoping it's only the pan gasket.
As for the car, like I said, plan on keeping it. She likes it and so do I. Actually, I bought it for myself and she ended up inheriting it. I got the parts for a mini-me swap, so maybe one day it'll be mine...... again :D

#170682 http://civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?t=8575 I did a small write up when i did mine also check and make sure your distributor o ring is not bad because that could make oil leak on your trans your motor and run down on your oil pan
