#204772 Im pondering on boosting my D.
Altho I am not mechanically inclined Its still interesting.

I came across this, with help from a friend :hehe:
"The 1984 to 1987 (Nissan 300zx) turbo models featured a Garrett T3 turbocharger with a 7.8:1 compression ratio,"
Also 6.7 psi.

I could find one of these turbos for under $200
I dont know if they would fit on my D series.
And I dont know if it would blow my motor up.

I would love to have a turbo daily driver
Not trying to get massive power just little.

Any suggestions?

#204776 if the turbo is in good shape then that's a good deal for you to jump on.

t3's are great on SOHC D series. A good install and profesional tune and you won't blow it up. Just don't get greedy on stock internals. ARP head studs minimum. :thumb:

#205551 this seems pretty close to what i want to ask aswell
what ARP headstuds should I use for a D15B block(non vtec) and Y8 Head. Would the Z6 studs fit?
Called Lordco and they carry only the Z6 studs for the D16 (PT number: 208-4305)
would I need different ones?

I had a Y8 head & d15b7 block so I figured I should use the Y8 Bolts... Nope most of them were too short, only the 2 in the back corners reached. All 10 Y8 bolts were something like $28. So back to the dealer I go to buy D15B7 Bolts- they were almost $9 each! The D15b7 head bolts are stretch bolts, meaning you should not re-use them. So I went to Summit Racing and got an ARP Head Stud Kit for the D16z6 (the only one they had for SOHC civic at the time). And they worked, except for the 2 bolts in the back corners! So I used 8 of the ARP studs and then 2 of the Y8 bolts for the back corners. It never caused any problems at all, but I was NA, not boosted.

When I had that setup in 2002, it was the only option. I'd give ARP a call, maybe they have updated the design of the studs to make them more compatible. Their customer service tech is excellent when I have called in the past

"The 1984 to 1987 (Nissan 300zx) turbo models featured a Garrett T3 turbocharger with a 7.8:1 compression ratio," i ran a t3 off of a nissan for about a year. good turbo
Also 6.7 psi.

I dont know if they would fit on my D series. they will fit but the turbo manifold would need a t3 flange. And I dont know if it would blow my motor up. blowing motors doesnt depend on boost it depends on horsepower

Thanks Teal, I am actually using the tutorial that you wrote up about doing the Mini-Me swap. (thanks =D )
I was just concerned about the D16Z6 ARP bolts fitting my D15B block.
Do you personally think re-using the Y8 bolts for the back corners would be okay? I will call ARP tomorrow and see if they can mix my order to my specs... hopefully... =)

thanks for your input
