#224973 Now im really motivated to put a jdm D15b head on a d16z6
It would kinda be like a D series equivalent to an ls vtec

it's too bad those iron sleeved torque monsters are a major pita to swap into our cars...

#225012 Are the internals from a d15 the same as a d16z6?
Or will a Z6 handle more boost than a d15
User avatar
By Ajax1989
#225014 ^ depends on how many lbs/psi you wanna push
By Buzzy
#225019 well i ment..
which one can handle more HP?
Because i've heard that the rods from d15's are really weak. Compared to a D16z6's.
Does that apply to the JDM d15?

#225022 oh it all depends, if u just put some lil bolt ons or if u go all out build

#225050 ^ LOL. REALLY?! :chair:
Stock for stock.
I've seen ppl hit 250hp on a stock D16z6. (With a turbo..)
How much HP can the STOCK internals on a JDM d15 handle?

#225051  you gotta be a lil more detailed with your questions..
but stock for stock im gonna say the d15b seems a lil more tougher then the z6

and u cant really say the hp it can put out stock with a turbo, its all in the tune, so that number could be based off anything..
By Buzzy
#225053 But with proper tuning on both motors... it's not really the psi that will kill it, but just the ammount of pure power they can handle.
someone correct me if I'm wrong.

#225064 Check out d-series.org
There are alot of boosted D's on there

but civic-eg is still my home :thumb:

as for boost I always hear the D15b and the D16y8 are the best for boost
I may be wrong

#226361 I'm on D-series.org as well and find a bit of useful stuff on there although some of the guys can be a little dickish sometimes in the way they answer questions.

#226492 Yeah, they're total elitists over there. Their site functions as a tool for them to talk down on people. They get really defensive when someone who knows more than they do starts hanging around. They started another site called onecamonly and they do the same exact shit over there.

D16A6 is reportedly the strongest bottom end, and you can get some free compression with certain head swaps. But for an OBD1 Civic I'd say that you should stick with an OBD1 head. The throttle cable fits, the vacuum hoses plug right in, the injectors and wire harnesses all plug in. All these little details make for a clean and easy swap.

Bisi put a D16Z6 in a wagon with a big turbo and puts down ridiculous amounts of power. In other words, there's no need for anything more exotic than your stock Z6. Rebuild it with some Endyn parts if you can afford to.
