#255251 so I am going to be doing a head swap on my g/f's 91 hatch and i have had a y7 head sitting around with next to no miles id say 70k and was wondering mainly on the stupid oil jet ive gotten mixed results with a search of the internet and stuff like that....

so really just looking to find out if i should keep the oil restrictor in the block of the d15 or take it out as i know you take it out for the vtec heads in order to run them but i am unsure exactly what to do about the y7 head.....

any input greatly appreciated

#255264 why r u swapping to a non-vtec head?! is urs damaged or what?!
as far as i concern, u only need to remove the oil jet when u r putting a vtec head.

#255272 yes the head that is on her car is running on 3 cyls due to a bad valve and im going non vtec because its just simplier in the ef chasis with dpfi for now.

and thats also what i was assuming is i dont need to remove it as its nonvtec

#255358 I think all ud need is a y7 timing belt, it should be pretty straight forward, I'd say leave the oil jet in as well, but a friend stuck a y7 head on a y8 block and it ran good. But I'd say do it, the y7 head has better ports and cam, you may not notice a difference if its a dual point lol

#255371 vtec on a sohc engine really isnt all that much to talk about and hondas vtec is nice and all but in my book ill take nonvtec turbo over a vtec turbo d anyday less to go wrong less to tune .......

but yea i figured as much and i do hopefully plan on doing a mpfi swap sooner or later on her car but i dont know yet as its auto and the only auto mpfi ecu of the obd0 cars was the 4dr ex lol so for now its dpfi may do a obd1 ecu upgrade but we shall see....

cant wait to get this project done and over with
