Guns yes/no?

- Mon Aug 01, 2011 2:59 am #265753 I see so much on msnbc and ninemsn of random shootings in the states. Apparently it's so easy to obtain a fire arm over there.

Where i'm from the only people with guns are cops and farmers, who need to need to kill foxes who destroy crops etc.

I remember when I lived in Pa this 20 year old guy came to this party I was at, after I left I was told he's in a gang and carries a gun on him sometimes, for a while after that I was kind of shitting myself. Why the hell was he invited, I have no idea. And if something went out of line at that party, like most of the time usually, what would have happened?

If there are so many gun related deaths in america, why isn't the government doing anything about it?

Are guns that socially accepted? What do you guys think?

they do have weapon limiting laws most of the guns used to kill people are stolen or smuggled in from other countries

Happy to say im a proud gun owner, I have many uses for my guns. Also i have my concealed weapons permit so i can carry my weapon almost anywhere i want to protect myself and in some situation others/family.

But I guess in a country where there's gun laws, there would be a risks, so it would be likely to buy a gun for protection.

I heard in some US states, you have the right to kill an intruder who breaks into your house, where as in my country if I killed an intruder, I go to jail and or if I bashed the shit out of the intruder, he gets compensation and he can take me to court. Some laws are messed up.

Are Canadian gun laws similar? I guess thoughts and opinions vary world wide

- Mon Aug 01, 2011 5:02 pm #265816 Its a really touchy subject, but for people that do own guns in the States, they have an organization that will defend and fight for you in court if you do end up killing someone on your property.

In Arizona, you are allowed to carry a weapon ANYWHERE. The only thing is, you cant shoot someone in the back if a conflict were to arise and you had to use deadly force. California, ha you cant use more force than what the intruder is forcing on you. So if he has a knife you better have a knife and not a gun or else you will.probably get into a lot of trouble.

Personally i own many guns, some just for collection, some for hunting and some for if something was happening, i had the firepower to protect myself and others that might be in danger as well.

If you own a gun and are responsible...a few more regulations wont really deter you from getting what you want. So the ones that are conplaining I think either are not responsible or possibly got their guns in a questionable manor. My 2 cents

I'm from Texas, so having a gun in the house is just second nature for more reasons than just hunting, I know some states are the same way.

I completely support gun ownership and the carrying of concealed guns by those who are licensed or authorized to.

As far as use of deadly or close to deadly force on intruders. You come into my house uninvited and with ill intentions be aware, shooting you is the easy way out. If i shoot you take that as a act of mercy, because family is one of those things you just don't mess with in my opinion.

- Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:35 pm #266521 I'm going to shed light on part of the British side of things. I have several friends who live over across the pond, and they tell me they wished they were allowed to have guns.

Crime rate in England is through the roof because not even the cops are allowed to carry firearms.

In Texas, you are allowed to carry your loaded pistol in your vehicle so long as it's concealed out of public view. You are allowed to carry your rifle/shotgun in your vehicle so long as it's not loaded, and the ammunition is more than three feet from the firearm. You are allowed to carry any and all LEGAL and REGISTERED firearms within the scope of your house. Your vehicle is an extension of your home but with special regulations that ordinarily will not interfere with the transportation of your firearm. You are allowed to carry your firearm from your house to your vehicle and back without a concealed handgun license, but no where else without the CHL. With your CHL, you are allowed to conceal a handgun on our person and brandish the firearm as a last ditch effort to control a situation or secure the safety of yourself and those around you. IF you have alcohol in your system, you SHALL NOT carry a firearm on your person or in your vehicle. You will endure hefty fines, possible jail time, and you will lose your CHL ad whatever firearms you have on your person or in your vehicle should you be caught and proven as such.

I love my Czech Mauser K98, and I will purchase a Glock 23 soon for personal protection.

I would hate to live in a state in which you can get 10yrs in prison for having an unloaded and disassembled firearm in your trunk with no ammunition in the vehicle. *cough* New Jersey *cough*
