Nah, that's past tense, in earlier days tires used to have some sort of coating, modern ones only have a fast wearing layer of ... on them, a nice short burnout will do the trick, or 50km of driving.
Tein is a very nice upgrade to the car, BUT... I'm pretty sure they're kinda overrated.
A set of yellow Koni's with Skunk2 coilovers are a pretty good upgrade, and probably cheaper.
The DC2 is already blessed though with a superb set of shock absorbers and springs, nicely balanced and well usable on the track.
But it's your car, and I love it the way you're making it (according to your stated plans that is
