Summammmabeyotch....I cant believe you pulled the K-20 card....hahahah....ever since JDM theory thats all everyone has been saying to me....k-20 swap....hahahah....now they got me thinking about selling the stang just to get the K-20....

- Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:21 pm #42827 Well... took the car into the shop today, the verdict is.... headgasket is going, not shot yet... but going. so with doing the headgasket the way i(and my stepfathers shop) does it, will be close to a grand to do. the inner wheel wells are shot, and need to be done. as well as other minor body work...

so.. its throw 2Gs into the car, or sell it and buy an Integra... and well the latter of the two is winning...


The time of the EG has been fun... but there are just too many things needed to be done, and not the time, nor the money to do so...

If so it would be considerable cheaper, Me and my dad Replaced a head gasket on a 95 3.8l v6 Taurus in a Weekend. 1 day to take off and 1 day to put on, Both days where just after noons. Doing it on any Honda engine will be easier.

If you have the tools and any repair manual it should quite doable yourself, Also saving quite a bit of money. The head gasket for the Taurus was around 100USD. If you shop around you might get a Honda head gasket cheaper.

- Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:31 pm #42846 well when i replace a head gasket (as well as when it's done at my stepfathers shop) we don't just replace the headgasket, the car has 300,000km's on it, the original belts, valve seals are leaking, so the things i'm would replace are

Head gasket, timing belt, water pump, power steering belt, alternator belt, cams seal, valve seals... as well as a bunch of other stuff. those are the things that i can think of off the top of my head.

Don't do it man, save up some money and buy it yourself.
I know it's a lot more common to take a loan on a car in your part of the world, but it's still no wise thing to do...
Because when you can't afford the payments anymore, you lose your car.
When you crash it, you still have to pay for it while having to get another car...

Swap to another cheap D15 or D16, and stick with it untill you can afford your dreamcar OF YOUR OWN.

(just my 2cts)

the things i'm would replace are

Head gasket, timing belt, water pump, power steering belt, alternator belt, cams seal, valve seals... as well as a bunch of other stuff. those are the things that i can think of off the top of my head.

When changing your headgasket, you should ALWAYS do this.
AND machine the deck + head so it's 100% flat when using a steel gasket, or just the head when using a normal paper one.
