#7227 i dont know what to do, i originaly wanted to do a b16 swap to my EK hatch, but i read a few forums and alot of ppl say b16s feel like D's untill u get to 5k rpms, and that they are a waste of money, ppl say ur better off with a ls with a b16 or gsr tranny. do any of you guys have any type of expierence with b16s?. i was thinking of going lsvtec. b18b1 block with a b16 head. can some1 list of parts i will need to make this happen. some of the parts i know i need is

b18b block
vtec head
b16/gsr t-belt,water pump
golden eagle lsvtec kit

if there are some parts i am missing please let me know, also what ecu do i use? and i also herd that u have to tap the block and head for the oil line so enough oil can go up to the head is this true?

#7228 Looks like you've got it pretty much covered. B16's are torqueless wonders. Just save the money and go LS-V or GSR. The 1.8 owns the 1.6

#7230 Hmmmmm, I dont think so, but I'm not 100% sure. Just hold out for a GSR, its not that much more than a B16. Come to think of it, look at my for sale thread, there's a complete GSR in there. I can do just the long block for about $2300 shipped.

#7244 For the LS/VTEC you would need

Pistons
shot peen the LS rods at a minimum.
New main and rod bearings
Rings
water pump\
Timing belt > From same motor B16a/B18c
Oil pump /
Intake manifold ITR or aftermarket.

there are other things you could get...

#7261 ive just changed my engine from a D16z to a B16a2 an theres no difference in torque (proven in the dyno graphs as i had my old engine dynoed an ive just had this one dynoed) im running better bhp now - got 173.6bhp which is good but they are quite torqueless.

this has been playin on my mind for the last few days cause although my cars quicker than before i ended up payin bit more than i expected for the conversion an am feelin alittle down about it :? :(

im going to do a 1/4 mile soon an am really hoping for a high 14 - if i can get that ill be happy 8)
