#79068 I had my car corner weighted/balanced, and the total weight of my Si hatch was 2170lbs. That's with the passenger front seat, rear ITR seats, full carpeting, panels, etc.

I do not have AC, PS, or any airbags. Even with all of these items, I still was able to stick my friends CX hatch at the track, even with a 200lb passenger in my car, and no passenger in his car. His car is fully gutted. If I were to make a good estimate in the weight differene between our cars, I'd say his car weighed about 400 lbs less than what I had at the track. He was pushing the same amount of hp as my car. He should have let me pass him considering my entrance and exit speeds were much faster than his.

This showed me its all about drivers skill at the track. A favorable power to weight ratio is nice, but its all about drivers skill. :)

#80576 I only remove things that are transparent to the driver and other drivers and things that serve no function or serve a function that I don't agree with.

For example:

Rear speakers - you get better staging w/out them especially if you have components up front. Who cares about rear passengers?

Complete SRS system including sensors, ECU, harness, replacement steering wheel - airbag technology was not that great at the time. Not to mention that they recommend replacing it every ten years.

Front and Rear 30mph bumper supports - only there because of the insurance lobbyists. Just be careful and don't back into a parking sign.

Intake manifold Support Bracket - haven't had any problems yet :?

Knee Bolster - I found out what these are for when some lady pulled out in front of my 90 Si. Ouch to your shins.

Then I got the aluminum engine mount and alternator bracket from a VX. And an Odyssey battery, and some lightweight rims. I'm happy.

#82551 How much would you guess carbon fiber doors would cut off of the weight? I may be working at a shop that does a lot of carbon fiber work for stunt planes, I have my autobody repair diploma, and I'm pretty sure that if I do decide to work there I'd be able to get some carbon fiber pretty cheap and make work on them at the shop on my off days. I know I still have to put all of the interior back in, mainly the intrusion beam, but I'm sort of wanting to know how much weight I could cut by just using carbon fiber doors.

Either way, I'm hoping I can get a carbon fiber hood made there as soon as I get back from my trip to NY.

Best weight reduction: Yourself :D . I hate seeing people with 50-75 pounds of extra weight that can hardly get into their car go pay $100-$200 for a part that weighs 3 pounds less than the original part.

#84646 easiest way to lose weight is to chop the back end of your car off and put a rear of a motorcycle on there :)
