#148364 Well I'm planning on having my car painted this weekend. Then I'll have a week to do interior mods because a long trip to Pittsburgh. While I was in the building cleaning up, I saw a box of 6x9 speakers I had bought for around $75 nearly 2 years ago that I haven't even opened yet. They are Sony Xplod, 240W. I'm wanting to keep the car as budget as possible to help keep money in my savings for a house loan, but I figured a little custom mod using these speakers will suit the $350 cd player I just bought to replace the one stolen when the car was broken in to.

So how could I do something like this? I was thinking the easiest would be to just cut out a whole in a flat are on one of the back panels, and using bolts/nuts to fasten the speaker to it, but I'm afraid that it might vibrate and sound bad.

I do have a welder, so I could do some welding if it's required and not too hard/dangerous to do, but I'd love to keep it as simple as possible and I do not want the speakers in a box just laying around.

#148368 The rear speakers for hatchs mount beside the rear seats. With some custom made sheet metal mounts you can get them to fit in the stock locations. Also less likely to get broken into since they wont be seen.

#148444 That's how I plan on doing it then, if it doesn't rattle. I guess if it's tightened to it good enough it, will work out nicely. I don't like the looks of it too much, even if it was exactly how I was planning on doing it, I'm glad I have a picture to see so I know to try to change it around some if possible.

#148445 Yeah, I didn't like the looks so much BUT neither Me or anyone alse never sat in the back.. so all that mattered was the sound and it was goodie.

#148777 Yeah, I will end up going that route if I can't think of anything else. I don't really plan on having other people in the back, but I'd still like for everything to look as good as possible after spending sooooooo much time in the past weeks getting my car ready to be painted in a few days.

I went and got some plastic epoxy, and thinking about making a small enclosure for the 6x9 speakers. I know they don't need some type of enclosure for its sound, but it can at least look nice, right

I'm looking for pictures of interiors since all of mine is out of the car, to get an idea of where I could make the enclosures though. Any ideas, anyone?

#148860 I agree, dont put it in like that. Make it look OEM. Hide it behind the panel. Otherwise its just a flashing light for theives.

#148882 Put the right size in? I wasn't aware that speakers were meant to be back there. I took the plastic off, and I didn't see any place for any speakers. I have the right speakers in the front, but I have a set of 6x9 speakers that I have laying around and wanted to put them to use.

I don't plan on putting them there anymore anyways. I'm going to attempt to make a fiberglass headliner, and make a place for them to be hanging from the roof in a small enclosure I'll make near the back.

#148884 There is a OEM option for speaker mounts for that spot. Both my cars havae them. 5 1/4 speakers are what honda intended for that location.

Hmm. I'll go give it a look. If my car has it, then I'll just drill some holes in the panels to make it look a little professional, and maybe even put a set of speakers there too if I'm not satisfied with the 6x9s in the back.
