- Wed Dec 02, 2009 4:21 am #159495 Those signing bonuses usually go with a job, a mos, and the large ones usually require you to sign up for 6 to 8 years. For example if they need truck drivers they will offer a 10,000 bonus for 6 years of service, 40,000 for 8 years, and 5,000 for 4 years. They also give bonuses to attract people who have special skills like if you are bilingual.

Also remember this no matter how long you sign up for you are really singing up for 8 years. You do your 4 and get out you still are in the IRR Inactive Ready Reserve. I could get a letter tomorrow telling me to report to a base to train for 3 months and go to Afghanistan.

You will have to be away from your girl for a little bit while you train, but it goes fast. I loved the military, and as soon as I am done with school I am going back as an officer. Check out the air force reserves, because air force personnel live good.

take a officer test and/or take the employment test.

obviously the smarter you are, the better pay.

THEY CAN HELP WITH SCHOOL AND i WENT TO MILITARY SCHOOL FOR 4 YEARS SO ITS NOT ENTIRELY A NEW THING FOR ME. i CAN GET A SOURCE OF INCOME AND GREAT BENIFITS FOR MY FAMILY SO ITS GOOD. NOT TRYING TO WEASEL OUT OF ANYTHING NECCESARILY BECAUSE THINK.. BOOTCAMP =10 WEEKS THEN GOING TO SCHOOL. JAIL WOULD BE PROBABLY NOT MORE THAN A MONTH OR TWO SAYS ATTORNEY I SPOKE WITH SO iM GOING TO BE AWAY LONGER BUT GET GREAT BENEFITS FOR MY FAMILY, PUTTING MEMBER OF ARMY RESERVE ON ANY JOB APPLICATION HELPS A GREAT DEAL AND i WOULD BE GONE FOR A WEEKEND EACH MONTH.

- Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:50 pm #159624 If you and your girl get married then she can live on post with you while you are doing your ait. I think it is called ait in the army. One thing to remember though is when your girl does come to visit you make sure she doesn't break any laws, even speeding, because it comes back to you and you get in trouble. Also some of the guard and reserves are requiring members to do one year of active duty before you do your weekends so you might want to check that out.

I know you cant have outstanding shit but I can still do the asvabs again (3rd time) if i need to and go to meps for the physical then a recruiter can write a letter for me to take to court so I can sign my enlistment papers.

I am in the ARMY.
i litterally had to stop reading half the post people made, look when i joined , i had 3 driving suspendeds , 3 no insurance 2 speeding and a dwi 2 times lega llimit and all in new jersey the worst state to get driving offenses. when i enlisted in the army i had a traffc warrant out for my arrest. if you have no fellony's and "you do not have to tell your recruiter about pending cases" or any for that matter ,your driving record plays no part in enlitment.
as for the fact the army is over staffed , maybe not used correctly but def over staffed recruiting has slowed dramaticly , and if it does go throug you can in fact get a bonus . i enlisted for the mos iwanted for 5 years and got 30 thousand dollars, i know medics who got 60 for 7 years, im telling you first hand if you want to join pm me i will set you up with the people who can make it happen for you . i myslef have been in quite some time and reguardless of what anyone says about manning up or not is bs, get deployed 3 times and another on the way , OIF OEF, and now the afghan campaign... thats maning up , so you use the military to help you change your ways this is not a bad thing , your guna be away from your girl for initial training then you get bah and bas and she can come livewhere you get stationed, all my pending shit was reduced or thrown out with an offical DOD documnet saying i was a memeber of active duty military , and you aint the only one , i know officers as well as enlisted soldiers who had issues and problems and worked it all ou with discipline and clarity, you wana do this it can happen .

- Thu Dec 03, 2009 11:08 pm #159869 i had to write a long ass letter about possesion of tobacco as a minor cause i had a warrant for not going to court they made me go to court and handle the warrant before i could even process ... i just processed a month ago and ship on feb 8 to fort knowx kentucky.... mos 19k m1 abrahms .....
