- Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:28 pm #88917 Removing the alternator is actually a lot harder than it sounds. I like to jack the car up and squeeze it out between the block and the axle. But now that I have air tools (haven't changed the alternator in about 5 years) I'll probably just remove the axle and make it a million times easier.

- Wed Mar 11, 2009 2:20 pm #102253 Turns out that I didnt even have to replace it.......yet. Every time I start the car up, the battery light comes on, and as soon as I rev up the engine a little, the light will go out.
I assume with such the cold weather we had, and when I started the car up, I didnt rev it up and and the altenator wasnt charging.... :?

- Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:33 pm #109488 So just an update. The old altenator went for another few months until the other day when the car quit on me at work.

Managed to find a used one, but when I got under the car to get that pin out, nothing would move. That pin is siezed in there for sure. We dont have any major heat so I have to take the car into a garage to get the old one off. Does anyone have any hints?

Were working without a hoist as well.

I was so pissed that day.
