#103726 Ok so now im set i sold my z6 block with bad rings in it...and with the money i made from that got a semi low miles 120k or so probaly lower....but yea D15B2 and since i have around 4 Z6 heads im planning a little mini me swap for my 1995 civic......though i do have some questions about what to get. for the swap to be correct as well as for the motor to run for awhile without any maintainance needed on the lower end......

So far im going to place an order(s) for the following
-D15b2 lower gasket set
-D16z6 head gasket set
-D15b2 water pump
-D15b2 belt tensioner
-D16z6 timing belt

and here is where things get a little fuzzy for me since they do have them where im ordering my parts though im not sure i need them but please let me know if i should or not.
-Freeze plug kit(most likely i will just because they are inexpensive)

Oil pump now this ones the big one it will cost more than the head gasket set so i am wondering not on the basis of cost but on the basis of will i need it or not the motor was pulled out running and driving fine. and the oil in it was nice so i knwo he changed it often. only real tall tail sign of how old it is is all the dirt on the back of the block and some on the front. but this motor was pulled 2 weeks ago so it also hasnt been sitting for a long period of time so i dont know if i should get it or not what are your thoughts on it?

and if i get that i might as well get a new pickup tube.

But if not the stock stuff should be fine....

Anyhow i have just enough money right now to cover everything listed however if i do not need a oil pump (since i never head of anyone getting one unless they completely redid the motor)then i will have probaly enough to get the car up and running again for the most part but i just want to know if thats really about all i will need base wise on preventive maintainance before i order the parts since i want them all here when i start working on the motor.

Please let me know and thank you for any help given

#103734 I had thought about doing mine as well but since I've never had an oil issue in the past I decided against it.

#103797 Change the pump then. While the motor is out change EVERYTHING you can. Every seal and gasket, water and oil pump, freeze plugs, clean and prep the motor. Do this crap while its all easy to get at.

You were asking if you needed to replace the oil pump or not. He was giving you his advice. He knows you have the motor out, you guys are talking about the same thing lol.

We are saying now is obviously the ideal time to do so. Or leave it alone. It's your call and you know your budget. :thumb:

#104069 Ive had three motor put down because of oil pumps. Im in the middle of looking for another longblock for my car. When I get it, I will get a NEW oil pump and water pump and timing belt for it. Even if it doesnt need it. I dont know when the last time they were replaced, Its more piece of mind. If you do it now you will know its good.

Take it or leave it. Thats up to you.

#104255 you can get the gaskets from honda. they arent that much. I just got the top end set for Katies hatch.

Oil pick up and screen will most likely have to come from honda or a junk yard.
